B.E., B.Eng. Or Bachelor of Engineering is a U.G. or Undergraduate academic degree, which a student gets when they can 4 or 5 years of engineering study from any university.
Normal The B.E. course duration is 4 years or 8 semesters, but if someone enrolls in the integrated D.D. ( Dual-Degree ) course, then it extends to 5 years or 10 semesters.
The B.E. course mainly focuses on scientific theory concepts and experiments. After some time, students turn these theories and experient into reality.
As a student, you’ll need to learn and work on your scientific theories so that later on, you can find practical answers/solutions.
One main reason why a lot of people every year pursue B.E. is, it is the most reputed degree among other degrees. Cause people who study it, later on, help to develop the country by using new technologies.

What is B.E. Course?
Bachelor of Engineering or B.E. is a 4 years or 8 Semesters course, but if a student pursues or go for an integrated Dual-Degree course, then the degree can take 5 years or 10 Semesters.
During the course, you’ll learn about many scientific theory concepts and perform many experiments. You’ll also learn about trending technologies that are related to Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, I.T., and Software.
Some big companies like Microsoft, Uber, Amazon, Google give job opportunities to students, and this one of the reasons why this degree is so popular among students.
Like any other bachelor’s degree, you can’t just take direct admission to a college. Cause majority of engineering colleges of India, only let the student apply for admission when they have clear an entrance examination. But also some colleges let the student take direct admission. So let’s talk about both.
Although there are only a few colleges, you’ll find in India that provides direct admission. But if you found one, then you need to come under their eligibility criteria. Which I mentioned below:-
- A student must have completed their 12th or 10+2 education for a recognized board.
- A student must have completed 12th with science or PCM stream. Any other stream will not approve.
- The percentage must be more than 50%, and most college demands 75%.
Now the majority of colleges in India approve a student for admission only when they clear or appear in the entrance examination.
There many colleges who have their entrance exam. But there is one entrance exam that you can do and will approve by the majority of colleges in India.
That examination is the Joint Entrance Exam or JEE. There are two stages of JEE. The first one is JEE Mains, in this, you’ll face a paper that is three hours long and will contain MCQ ( Multiple Choice Questions ).
These Multiple Choice Questions will come from PCM or Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The next one is the JEE Advance. Once you clear the JEE Mains paper successfully now, you’ll face the JEE Advance paper.
Once you clear the JEE Advance Paper now, you’ll have a chance to get admission to the best colleges and IITs of India.
IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras are some popular IITs of India. Above mentioned eligibility criteria also goes with this entrance examination way.
Now talking about the B.E. subjects, then it will depend on which type of engineering you choose. I mean if you select software engineering, then subjects would be different, and if you choose mechanical engineering, then the subject will be different. First, let’s talk about the duration or time it would take to complete. So the B.E. degree is 8 semesters or 4 years long. If someone wants to pursue an integrated Dual-Degree course, the degree can take 5 years or 10 Semesters.
Now let’s talk about the money or fees you’ll have to pay for a B.E. degree. So it would depend on the college you select to pursue the degree.
If you are doing it from a well-known IIT, then the cost will be different, and if you do it from a government college, then the fees will be different.
But If a tell you the average fees then minimum it can 35k-45k per year to a maximum of 300k-500k per year.
