DAV Public School and College Managing Committee Overview

As we have discussed at the starting of this article that these schools are managed by the DAV College Managing Committee (DAVCMC). The full form of DAV school is Dayanand Anglo-Vedic School. There are many DAV public schools in India and many other countries in the world. The DAVCMC is a very old and prestigious educational society. The most important thing about this society is that it is not a government organization. Many people have this misconception about this society and their institutes but it is not true.

Although DAVCMC is not a government society but there are many DAV schools in the country that are government-aided. The no. of Government Aided DAV schools in the country are 62. These schools are run in co-operation between the DAVCMC and the state government. There are mainly 6 six states in co-operation with DAVCMC namely Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Haryana, Orissa, Maharashtra, and Punjab. Apart from these states and union territories, there are some union territories as well that work with DAVCMC.

Now if we talk about the non aided schools then they are 800+ in numbers. Such non-aided DAV schools are present in India and all around the world. In India, these schools are mainly present in states like Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

There are 900+ campuses spread all over the world under DAVCMC. Out of those campuses, there are 900 schools inside and outside the country, 75 colleges, and a university. So yes it is a pretty big society and they have a very big infrastructure set up all around the globe. In these institutions, they educate students right from the beginning with KGs to the graduates and postgraduate levels. There are around 20 lakh students who get education every year from schools and colleges under DAVCMC.

They also provide jobs in a very large no., according to an estimate there are over 50,000 people employed in this society. This society also has the record as they produce the highest no.of toppers in CBSE in Xth and XIIth board exams as a single institute in the last 10 years. I don’t think there is any other society in the world like DAVCMC.

In these institutions, Engish is the primary language of instruction. Students also get to study languages like Hindi Sanskrit, and other regional languages. DAVCMC and DAV schools drive their ideology from Arya Samaj.

History of DAVCMC

So as I said that this society is old. It was founded before the independence of India in the year 1886 in Lahore (presently in Pakistan). Mahatma Hansraj played a very important role in its establishment. All the institutions under this society run on the principles of Swami Dayanand Saraswati who was one of the greatest social and religious reformers in India.

Mahatma Hansraj always had the principles of Swami Dayanand Saraswati in his mind and laid the foundation of DAVCMC. Now all the institutions under this society work on these principles only. When you study this organization in deep then you will find the actual body that runs these schools is the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic Education Society.

The first DAV school was established in the year 1885 in Lahore. Lala Lajpat Rai also played a very important role in this society’s establishment. At the starting of this society, the member collected donations from people to run the school. In the year 1886, the DAV college trust and management society was registered and established.

DAV School Admission Process

DAV schools are one of the best networks of schools in the world. In India, all the DAV schools are CBSE affiliated and provide quality education to the students. And as we have discussed how these institutions have produced the highest numbers of CBSE toppers in the last 10 years. Therefore many students want to join DAV schools in their cities and towns. Under this heading, we are going to talk about how you can take admission into DAV schools.

Actually the admission process is different for different classes. And it might also differ from city to city. So, therefore, we will try to provide you an overview of the whole admission process. We have breakdown the admission process in different points. So you can also check them below.

Admissions in Class from UKG to 9th

The admission in Classes from UKG to 9th is based on the entrance exams. These entrance exams are organized by the school only.

  • In most of the DAV schools, the admission in Kinder garden classes like LKG and UKG is based on the interview of the candidate and his/her parents. To be eligible for the interview you have to first register yourself.
  • Now when it comes to admission in classes from 1st to 8th then there are two steps followed in most of the DAV schools. In the first step, candidates have to write an English and Maths test. And in the second step, the candidates who manage to clear the test can appear for the interview. To appear in the test the candidates have to register themselves first.

Admission in Class 11th

For admission in class in 11th in DAV schools, the procedure is bit different. You have to be good in academics then only you can expect to get a chance for admission in the 11th class in these schools.

  • For admission in most of the DAV schools in 11th class, you have to first register yourself. They release the registration form.
  • After the registration, you are allowed to sit in the entrance exam.
  • Then they declare the merit list.
  • If you manage to clear the entrance exam then you are called for the interview in the same month.

This is the whole tentative schedule for the DAV school admission process. The timing of the registration form and entrance exam may change according to your state. Like in Delhi the registration forms are released in the month of mid-march and exams are conducted between March and April.

Whereas in Patna the registration forms are released in the month of June and the entrance exams are also conducted in the same month.
